Typing for Quicktate

Who we are

We transcribe voicemail messages, memos, letters and other documents. The voicemail message files average 1-2 minutes in length, while the other recordings are typically longer.

What we require

1. Accurate spelling and punctuation.
2. Typists that know how to follow instructions.
3. Typists that can listen to voice files and accurately type what they hear.
4. Speed. You don’t have to be the fastest typist, but you can’t be too slow either.
5. Honesty, integrity and reliability.

You can select your own hours that you want to work. You can work as few, or as many hours as you want. During the (US) nights there are fewer files to transcribe, but they still must be transcribed in a timely fashion. If possible, please stay logged in whenever you are at your computer and available to type – even if for just a few minutes at a time- day or night. We are busier during the day. We are open for business 24 hours/ day; 7 days/ week.

Our goal is for the customers to get their transcribed voicemail messages (and other files) almost immediately after we receive the voice file, so that’s why we need you to stay logged in as much as possible. In some cases there are deadlines.

If you have another job, or are already an iDictate typist, this would be great “filler” work. You can keep Quicktate open in the background, and when there is a job to be typed, it will just start playing on your speakers. Just type the message, proof your work and click submit. Quicktate files frequently arrive in spikes, and when there’s a surge, iDictate files should be put on hold while everyone pays attention to Quicktate.

In order to type for iDictate, you must already have a Quicktate typist account. Even if you don’t do much Quicktate typing, we’ll still need as many typists logged in to Quicktate as possible. We will review your Quicktate transcriptions to determine your qualifications to type for iDictate. The more Quicktate messages already typed, the easier it will be for us to evaluate your typing skills and assign iDictate jobs (files) to you.

Compensation Summary

Quicktate typists are paid based on the number of words they type, at the rate of 1/4 (one-fourth) US cent per word. So, if you typed 50 words per minute (assuming there were enough jobs to keep you typing for the entire hour), then you would probably earn about $5.00-$7.00 per hour.

Quicktate Medical Transcription pays 1/3 (one-third) cent per word.

Note that Quicktate compensation is not the same as iDictate. While Quicktate pays a quarter cent – one third cent per word, iDictate pays one-half cent per word. In all cases, accuracy, spelling, punctuation and formatting is important. Do your best.

To summarize:
iDictate Compensation is one-half cent per word. ($0.005/ word)
Quicktate Compensation is one-quarter cent per word. ($0.0025/ word)
Quicktate Medical Compensation is one-third cent per word. ($0.0033/ word)

Typists are paid by Paypal. The pay periods are: 1st-15th and 16th-end of the month. Typists are paid within 10 days of the end of each pay period, unless pay-day falls on a holiday or a weekend, in which case you will be paid on the next business day following the holiday or weekend.

How to get started to determine if you qualify for the job

The following must be done in order.

1. Fill out the form below and tell us a little bit about yourself and tell us that you would like to apply for a job. Your resume should be pasted into the Resume field below. This will create a typist account in our system, which will be activated if we decide to hire you. Make sure you write down your typist account username and password during signup, you will need it if you are hired.

When you create your typist account, you are agreeing to abide by our strict confidentiality requirements and code of ethics. You will also be providing us with references. You should use NON-family members as your references.

3. Carefully review and study our Typist Guidelines, at least twice.

4. Take our typing test here. Answer each question, and fill out the form completely. This form should not be filled out until after you have created your typist account. Click on the voice files (in your language) and type them in the space provided. Time yourself. Then enter how long it took, and be honest! Make sure you follow the instructions from the Guidelines. You must use Firefox or Safari browser. Opera may work too.

5. If we like the quality of your work, and your ability to follow instructions you will receive a notice that you have been wait-listed or hired.

If we do not like the quality of your work, you did not follow directions, your references don’t check out, or if you have been previously convicted of a felony, your application will be rejected. Again, it is essential that you follow directions, as this shows us how competent you will be as a typist.
